2 years later update!!  there was the great recession.  remember?

greenhome solutions http://www.ghsproducts.com/ seattle, has been uber helpful with our cabinets and sourcing our countertops.  we went with a recycled glass from camano island environite and butcher block madrone.  can't wait to see how these turn out.

also, found 24"x24" brown porcelain tiles from Kristina's italian family bellevue located tile store.  so nice.  just search kristina on craigslist under materials and she has your tile at a great price!
